Parallel payroll testing on Oracle HCM Cloud
A parallel run is only as useful as the comparison at the end of it.
Before an Oracle payroll goes live, the same period is usually run in both the legacy payroll and Oracle, and the results compared. The comparison is often the hardest part: different layouts, different element names, and differences that may come from configuration, from data, or from the inputs themselves.
Because the pipeline prepares inputs for Oracle from the same sources that fed the legacy payroll, it can reconcile three ways: source to legacy, source to Oracle, and legacy to Oracle. Each difference is placed where it arose, so the team fixes the right thing.
Three-way reconciliation
- Source to legacy. Confirms the legacy results you are comparing against were themselves complete.
- Source to Oracle. Confirms every input reached Oracle as intended.
- Legacy to Oracle. Shows the differences that remain, which are usually configuration or rule differences to decide on.
How PCLnXAI supports parallel testing
We run the pipeline against your Oracle test environment during parallel periods, so by go-live the same checks and reconciliations your team will rely on in production have already been proven on your data.
Frequently asked questions
How many parallel periods are needed?
That depends on your pay rules and calendar. The aim is to cover the events that matter, such as overtime-heavy periods and month-end, rather than a fixed number.
